Saturday's party with the GTABloggers and friends was a success. By my count, we had between thirty or forty people at peak -- a medium-sized party by the standards of this house -- and I think it went quite well.
You'd think I'd have thrown a number of parties where I've pulled out the karaoke machine, but this was actually the first. I'd like to thank Mom for loaning me her Platinum karaoke mic, one of the new-generation karaoke gizmos which is self-contained within a microphone. I'll do a writeup on this fine device later.
For your curiosity and enjoyment, here's the first set of videos that I shot with my Nikon Coolpix SQ. They're all in QuickTime format:
- Rannie Turingan sings Africa by Toto (672K)
- Michelle Turingan sings Like a Virgin by Madonna (670K)
- Erik sings Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morrison (684K)
- Liz sings Killing Me Softly by Roberta Flack (341K)
- Meryle sings I Love Rock and Roll by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, while Emmett backs her up on accordion (712K)
- John Bowman sings The Joker by the Steve Miller Band (389K)
- Rannie again, this time doing Top of the World by The Carpenters (873K)
- Kevin and Rory do the Bee Gees' Stayin' Alive (1.2 MB)
- Rory sings We are the Champions by Queen (1.1 MB)
- I practice my acceptance speech for the Bloggies (503K)
