Art Strikes Back

Toronto’s inside workers’ strike means that the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition had to be cancelled. However, many artists rely on sales from that event for their income, so they’re banding together to have an exhibition and art sale this weekend called Art Strikes Back.

Karin forwarded me an e-mail message about an event taking place this weekend here in Accordion City: Art Strikes Back. Here are the details:

ART STRIKES BACK: Casualties of the strike

>As you may have heard by now that despite all efforts the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition has been postponed due to the Toronto city workers strike. The new dates are now Aug 31 to September 2 2002 (Labour day weekend.) We will all be looking forward to that event.

Because many people depend on this annual event for significant proportion of their income, several artists will be opening their studios on what was supposed to be the weekend of the TOAE. Among these, 50 artists will be selling their work in one warehouse. A handout of the map of the other studio location will be there.

Saturday, July 13th: 10am to 8pm

Sunday July 14th: 10am to 6pm

376 Dufferin Street

(just south of Queen St.W, at rear entrance)
