On the left, we have Thomas Walkom in the Toronto Star, who takes the “Bush = Hitler” equation and rejiggers it into “Bush < Hitler”
(for those of you who aren’t math-literate — and shame on you, by the
way — that means “Bush is less than Hitler”). I’m not a fan of the
President myself, but this is just ridiculous.
On the right, we have this Fox and Corkum cartoon commemorating the Little Green Footballs’ “Idiotarian of the Year” award for 2003, which was given to Rachel Corrie [ pro-reference / anti-reference / Wikipedia entry
], accompanied with the usual high-fiving by commenters. I don’t agree
with Corrie or her ilk, but neither do I agree with dancing on her
grave.

I think the point of Walkom's column (btw he's a pal) is not the Bush/Hitler comparison, but the similarities between Canadian/US relations and those of Romania/Austria/Switzerland and Germany pre and during WWII. I think most Canadians feel like Chretien did- better to be Switzerland than Romania. Unrelated to this, I hope your Dad has a complete recovery, best wishes.
I agree, I think the article makes sense in that light.
btw, one difference between Bush and Hitler: unlike Hitler, Bush grew up in a family with lots of cash, some of which orignated with ... er, Hitler.
I finally stopped checking the LGF site because it made me feel queasy. The contributors don't seem to understand that one can disagree with another's opinions and/or actions in a civilized manner. Grave dancing (Rachel Corrie, Edward Said) is terribly low.
I do think that the International Solidarity folks are naive, ill-informed and irresponsible - even dangerous (eg, the British-born terrorists who blew up a popular pub in Tel Aviv last year, killing a friend of mine among several others, entered Israel from Gaza with the help of the ISM) - but I certainly don't wish them physical harm.

I think the following line from this blog entry sums up my feelings about LGF perfectly:
