Seeking a Cartoon Source

Anyone know where I can get my hands on any of those old Warner

Brothers cartoons featuring Spike the bulldog and Chester the terrier?

Their cartoons always start with Chester bouncing around Spike, going

“C’mon, Spike, let’s do somethin’!”. Chester would suggest an activity, to which Spike respond with a “Naaaah!” and

slap Chester, who would fly backwards into a nearby wall. Chester would chuckle, brush himself off and say

“Yeah, that was a dumb idea,” then look at the camera and say “I like

Spike, ’cause Spike’s my friend!”

If you know where I can find these — either online or if it was ever

released for sale on video or DVD, let me know in the comments!

  • There's a newsgroup called alt.binaries.pictures.cartoons where a lot of the Warner cartoons are posted. Most are SVCD format, some vcd, and from dvd source if available, sometimes vhs (from releases in the 80s or 90s) or direct from tv broadcast. I've collected a good number of them and will check my archive when I get home. If not, you can post a request in the newsgroup. Those who post frequently are always happy to help out.

To me, newsgroups are the most under-rated glory of the internet

  • I think you should have to tell us what you want them for first. I mean, do they remind you of some couple? inquiring minds...

  • i loved that cartoon...just thinkin' about it now im reminded of the Kibbles & bits (and bits and bits) commercial...

and, for the record, it reminds me of many twosomes...
