The "Nooooooooos" of Star Wars

A newly-suited Darth Vader screaming 'Noooooooo!'

Who knew that the Star Wars series of movies had so many people screaming “Noooooooo!”? Now, for the first time, you can hear them all in one place! [390KB, MP3 file]

Bonus: This entry has a remix of Liam Lynch’s My United States of Whatever, with Darth Vader’s “Nooooo!” subbing for Lynch’s “Whatever”.

The Annual 2006 Bloggies Campaign

Nominations for the 2006 Bloggies are open until Tuesday, January 10th at 10:00 pm Eastern Standard Time (that’s 03:00 Wednesday, January 11th UTC). The rules are slightly different this year — you have to nominate a minimum of three different blogs for your nomination to be valid. Please make The Adventures of Accordion Guy in the 21st Century one of your nominations!

The THIRTY Year Old Virgin

Promotional poster image for 'The Forty Year Old Virgin'.

[via Just a Gwai Lo] On Ask Metafilter, a thirty-year old who’s still a virgin asks two questions:

First, how rare are 30-year-old male virgins? Has anyone here lost

their virginity after 30? (I suppose I mean to exclude from this

question people who purposefully made a choice to abtain prior to

marriage.) Does anyone have any (preferably recent) links or materials

as to the age when men lose their virginity? Even if I knew that it was

as low as 1% of the population, that still lets me think to myself that

that probably translates into at least 100 or 200 guys in the same boat

here in Chicago, and ten or twenty thousand nationally. It would let me

feel a little less like the Only Virginal Freak in the World.

My second question is for the women here. Please tell me, honestly,

what your reaction to a partner would be if he told you he was a

virgin. Don’t try to spare my feelings, because I frankly need your

honesty here. My initial desire is to be honest with whomever my first

partner is, because we’ll be in a caring relationship, and heck, for

all I know, it might be a positive thing in their eyes. But I’ve heard

from a few (male) friends of mine that this is something I shouldn’t

reveal … that it will make them wonder what the hell is wrong with

me. Of course, there’s also the fact that my first time will probably

very obviously be my first time to my partner whether I tell her or not.

The responses for the most part have been kind and understanding, which runs counter to the insinuation that the Internet is a nasty place full of liars that a lot of journos have been making as of late. In fact, the questions and responses show just the sort of thing that might not have been possible outside of the ‘net and certainly not possible within a newspaper or magazine.

Update on Sam Bulte’s Wikipimpslap

This is more like it: someone’s updated the Wikipedia

entry for Sarmite “Sam” Bulte, incumbent MP for my

riding of Parkdale-High Park, which I wrote about

yesterday

During the 2006 federal

election, Bulte was criticized by blogger Cory Doctorow and professor Michael Geist

for her stances in favour of strict copyright laws and substantial

campaign contributions from Canadian and American entertainment

industries. They speculate she is a likely candidate for Heritage

Minister in the next Parliament. [1]

"I am Getting Verrrry Sleeeeepy…"

It looks as if I’m trying to hypnotize myself!

Joey deVilla holds up a dreidel Christmas tree ornament.

Actually, that’s me holding up one of the dreidel Christmas tree ornaments that Eldon made for me and Wendy. Big thanks to Lisa for the photo, which appears in this blog entry of hers.

Scenes from a Chinese Mall

View of a hallway with stalls in the Pacific Mall, Toronto, Canada

When Lisa came down to Accordion City for a visit, we — that’s me, Wendy, Deenster, Chris, Rich and Elana — took her to “North America’s Largest Indoor Asian Mall”, the Pacific Mall for Dim Sum and other goodies that are a bit hard-to-find in her home city of Tel Aviv. After a delicious and filling lunch, we cruised the stalls and shops that make up the bulk of the mall, where I captured this photo of one of the more quiet zones. If you’re looking for a change of pace from your standard shopping, and especially if you’re looking for Asian ingredients, Chinese food, Pocky, computer parts, really good hair gel (it’s a major Asian concern), a worthy opponent for Dance Dance Revolution, computer stuff and anime, the Pacific Mall might just be what you seek.

By the way, if you’re looking for Lisa’ blog, On the Face, it’s moved — I’ve set her up with a Blogware blog and she’s now at http://ontheface.blogware.com. Same Canadian-born, New York-seasoned journalist-living-in-Israel action, newer, better Blogware-based location.

Here Comes the Wikipimpslap (or: Recent Edits to Sam Bulte’s Entry)

A user going by the name Nick Dillinger made the first edit to Recording Industry puppet / Parkdale-High Park MP Sarmite “Sam” Bulte’s Wikipedia entry (click here to see the specific revision), shown below. The change, a single line, has been highlighted:

She also stands for draconian copyright laws and recieves heavy contributions from the Canadian Entertainment industries.

Could someone with a little more time than I do right now do some editing and simply state the facts? Although I agree with th that last line and also find it amusing, I believe that it breaks Wikipedia’s “neutral point of view” rule.
