It’s been five months since I’ve been using a Windows Vista-based computer as my primary machine (after having used a Mac for years). My opinion can best be summarized with a “Successories”-style poster utilizing that horrible new photo of Paris Hilton attempting to channel Audrey Hepburn:
If work won’t provide me with a Mac laptop, I may end up just buying one myself. The refurbished ones are available at pretty good prices.
In case you’re too young to get the reference in the Paris Hilton photo, here’s the original — it’s a still from a scene in Breakfast at Tiffany’s:

it's funny that you posted that - i was going to call and ask you what mac laptop you would recommend i buy. i'm still will, but funny timing...
I am too young to remember it... but I do know it. It's just common pop-culture knowledge. I pity the ones who don't.
Refurbished Macs are a terrific deal. Generally they all get carefully tested to ensure everything is in working order. For those eyeing an iMac, I strongly recommend the 24-inch white (previous generation) iMac. It's a better monitor for a cheaper price (it's what I got after I read all the scary reports of poor monitor quality on the new "glossy" iMacs). And don't be fooled by the faster processor speed on the newer ones. Use the savings to max out your ram (but get it from a place like http://canadaram.com/ -- Apple grossly overcharges for ram)
Best title of 2008!
