This song, which I’d forgotten about, just popped up on my speakers thanks to “random shuffle” and I thought I’d share it with you. It’s a cute little synthpop track from 1985 called Since Yesterday by Strawberry Switchblade, who had the “Gothic Lolita” look at least a full decade before the Japanese invented the subculture.

Hey Joey -- Cool.
While you were at - how do you say it? -- Go-Nuts-U? -- I was down the 401 DJing at the Bullring at the U of G through the 80s. When this tune came out, I thought it might be a minor dance hit -- it wasn't -- but Strawberry Switchblade followed this up with a cover of Dolly Parton's classic "Jolene". [Watch the vid at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6oxzoDWY1PM%5D It doesn't hold a candle to the fabulous original but, if mixed into the right set, this one actually got people dancing at Moo U, believe it or not.
And by the way -- I've interviewed Gates and Ballmer a couple of times and they seem ok to me! Congrats and good luck at the evil empire!
I do believe that's one of the worst songs I've ever heard. That's worse than anything Scalzi has ever posted on his blog. I am going to immediately forget that song, and luckily, it cannot randomly pop up on my music player to bother me.
I've never heard of them, I've never heard of that song, and even going to see the YouTube Jolene was painful to the ears.
I can't believe I was actually in my prime in that decade.
zomg! that was a blast from the past. didn't make it on to my ipod. none of the vinyl did.
Wow! That was an awesome song! Reminds me of highschool dances. I actually own the 12" single of that one, right next to Walkman On by SSQ :)
