  • What I want to know is, was it a band called "The Royal Dragoon Guards" - or was it actually the *real* Royal Dragoon Guards?

  • Joey: I'm interested in the band Dakota which apparently opened for Queen at some point. I believe I saw that band and want to know more about them. Wiki lists a band by the same name, but it's a current band...around since 2007. Do you know anything about the Dakota that opened for Queen?

  • Hey Joey,

I know that the band Tombstone was an early opening band for Queen. There are some people who claim that they opened for Queen's first show in Denver CO on April 16, 1974 (Queen, in turn, opened for Mott The Hoople). I was at that concert and never saw this Tombstone or any other bands besides Mott and Queen. I have heard that Tombstone may have been scheduled to perform as their name have been printed on the ticket and canceled at the last minute, as one person who also attended the show has suggested. I cannot dispute this since I lost my stub a long time ago.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  • When did Kansas and/or Mahogany Rush open for Queen? I swear I saw them all together in Chicago, but hey, that was a LONG time ago and I wasn't exactly in a "normal frame of mind" at the time.

  • My REAL question is whether Kansas and Mahogany Rush opened for Queen at The Uptown AND The Aragon Ballroom in Chicago March 7th and 8th 1975 (respectively) or whether Tantrum opened for them on the 8th at The Aragon. The Aragon website http://coolalbumreview.com (and my personal recollection) say it was Kansas and Mahogany Rush, but http://www.QueenConcerts.com says it was Tantrum. However it was LONG time ago and the Queen website lists The Uptown in the wrong city so they can be wrong. ...and you don't list Tantrum as an opening act even if only a one time event.
