This is the best photo from the Vancouver post-game riots, featuring a pair of non-rioters who are now Vancouver’s most famous couple and/or hookup.
For some reason, I’m reminded of this photo:
Victoria Pleavin pointed me to another photo of the couple taken from a different angle, where the scene doesn’t look very romantic:
What is going on here?

B-b-b-but, the Canucks *did* pull the goalie. The final goal last night was into an empty net!
On the second picture it seems like they're all trying to help her in some way. Don't you think? Maybe she fell?
Uh, where exactly is his hand...?
Yeah, that 'from a different angle' pic looks like the start of a gang rape or something. ... not a pleasant pic at all.
A better headline would have been. "Unlike the Canucks, these people scored."
Too much speculation, no one will ever know except them.
Even the photographer isn't sure of what he saw, just a fleeing snapshot of two people he thought were hurt, but instead kissing.
I hate people who are comparing this with the iconic picture of the soldier kissing the girl after war. Nothing like it.
Apparently Maria was correct: http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/story/2011/06/17/vancouver-kissing-couple.html?ref=rss
Now I feel bad for ascribing impure motives on the part of the dude. Maybe it was just transference on my part. ;P
@John MacIntyre: That's what I first thought too from the second pic. Of course, I wondered how realistic that fear was when cops were everywhere around them, but then riots are insane-crazy things.
