I saw this yesterday in Tampa while the New Special Friend and I were heading out to dinner. Keep in mind that live stripping — er, I mean exotic dancing — is one of those things that you just can’t offshore.
Month: March 2012
Super typeface genius Ray Larabie lives in Japan and likes to keep people informed of the weirdness that they’re famous for. The latest thing is this commercial for candy featuring members of the all-girl idolsinger group AKB48 passing candy mouth-to-mouth. It airs during prime time and features a triple pun: “Chu” is the name of the product (“chew”), the Japanese onomatopoetic sound for a kiss, and a term for a promotional campaign.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
Let’s celebrate this day properly, shall we?
“Where’s the W, cuh? #Trippy”
You know why the “W” doesn’t cast a shadow, don’t you? Please say you do. Please.
This Safety Sign Will End in Tears
Don’t you wish you knew where this sign was posted, just so you could watch the ensuing hilarity?
Last year, I wandered into Fandango’s party at South by Southwest and stumbled into a karaoke competition. I walked out with a brand new iPad 1, which now belongs to my friend Katie Hrycak (I myself got a free iPad 2, and that’s another story).
This year, my Shopify coworkers and I wandered into Fandango’s party, and Karaoke Apocalypse, the karaoke band who played at last year’s party, were there.
“I remember you!” said the rhythm guitarist. “You’re that guy with the accordion! You’re the accordion guy!”
“I’m back,” I said. “Wanna play Dirty Deeds?”
The end result is the video above, with special introduction by Cody Fauser and Mark Hayes. Enjoy!
I left Austin yesterday morning and will be here in Tampa for about a week to work during the day and hang out with the New Special Friend in the evenings. Better still, she’s coming up to Toronto in early April!
