Every time I visit the USA (and that is a trip becoming hard to justify), I'm always startled by the sheer number of "stars & stripes" flapping in front of people's homes. The display has always struck me as...strident. Desperately proclaiming to...I don't know who...that "I AM A LOYAL AMERICAN! SEE?!? SEE?!?"
Seeing this sort of Texas tyranny, I can only guess these folks are preemptively calming their neighbours from any ideas of forming a mob.
