Re: the last one. That’s the problem, though. The debate is being framed as a choice between two really shitty options: government-perverted insurance companies or government-controlled insurance. How about setting it up so that people and their doctors make the decisions? Get rid of the biases against individually-owned high-deductible insurance for big stuff, and use tax-free health savings accounts to pay for the rest out of pocket (at the substantial discount you get for paying cash… usually 20% or more).
