Last night’s Nerd Noise Night at the Horseshoe Tavern with headlining act The Cybertronic Spree was nerd-tastic. The opening acts featured musical performances ranging from folk to hip-hop to electronica, all covering topics of video games, sci-fi, and general geekery, much to the delight of the audience, most of whom came to the show from Fan Expo. I don’t think I’ve seen so many Wolverine claws at a Queen Street bar!

The Cybertronic Spree dressed up as characters from the 1986 Transformers movie (Hot Rod, Arcee, Rumble, Spike, Unicron, and a Quintesson) and played songs from its soundtrack — did an excellent job. Not only did they get the crowd dancing, they also played note-perfect versions of those oh-so-eighties tunes from the film, including its best-known one:

WIl McLean got some great shots of the band in action:

A couple of them were at Fan Expo today in costume, too. Nerd Noise Night had a table in the North Building next to ours for Ad Astra, so I got to chill and chat (and share doughnuts with) one of the people who put on the show.
